Mission Statement:

Team Nikos Basketball Academy aspires to be an outstanding educational-athletic organization that provides the highest quality basketball experience to every student-athlete. Team Nikos Basketball Academy set out to accomplish those goals by using the principles of positive coaching, make each individual feel like an important part of the team regardless of performance, and teach “life lessons” that have value beyond the basketball court. We are committed to creating a positive culture in which coaches, parents, and athletes work together to achieve our mission!

The end goal for each player within the Team Nikos program is to dramatically improve each season. Through focusing on our players mentally and physically, each player will be shown a path to increase their skill levels, confidence, competitive drive and the desire to overachieve against the highest level of competition.

Being part of a travel team is demanding and time consuming for all parties involved. We stress the importance of family/religion, schoolwork and development of our players throughout our club at all levels.

Family is our number one priority and the foundation of our mission. Nothing is more important to us than a strong bond between our players and their family as well as their new extended Team Nikos family members. It is important to us that everyone is “rowing in the same direction”, and everyone gets along throughout our long season. If you need assistance or help, we are here to lend a hand where we can. If that means, we pick up and drop off your son/daughter to help you out, we will. If you need help with finding Corporate Sponsors, we will. That’s what family does for each other; they help out where they can.

Our players must understand the importance of schoolwork. Good grades throughout the school year is expected and regularly checked by our coaches. We stress the importance of achieving good marks on report cards because we want our athletes to know what will be expected as they go into Intermediate and High School as well as College. The end goal for most Team Nikos players is to receive athletic scholarships and without a solid GPA throughout high school, those chances decrease dramatically. Coaches will ask for report cards on a quarterly basis.

One of our goals is to produce highly visible student athletes, which will hopefully receive Athletic Scholarships to play at the college level.

cont’d…
Did you know that there are (327) NCAA Division I schools, (313) NCAA Division II schools, (295) NAIA schools, (425) NCAA Division III schools and (3267) Junior Colleges? These schools represent an opportunity over 400,000 full or partial athletic scholarships a year. These numbers represent opportunities and dreams of all aspiring Team Nikos players today and with the right training, leadership and contacts, their dreams can come true.

Our focus is on our players and part of developing them is just as important to do off the basketball court as it is on the basketball court. Making poor decisions off the court can result in multiple issues that can damage our athlete’s abilities to reach their/our end goals. We spend a lot of time speaking to our players about making the right choices and doing the right things. Throughout their lifetime each player will be faced with tough, peer influences decisions, we just hope we have prepared all our players to make the right choice and keep focus on their goals.

Another key to the club is to move our players through the system and achieve successes at the Junior High, High School and hopefully onto College as well as the professional levels. Those players who work hard on improving their skills outside of Team Nikos practices will continue to see improvements in their game and will typically be the ones who improve the quickest. The Club seeks support from the parents to push their son or daughter to work on improving their skills throughout the year because without the structure at home, our athletes won’t get where they need to be by the end of each season.

  • Schedules Regional Play in club based tournaments and other events as available.
  • Travel Teams We offer teams from 8U - High School Varsity club teams.
  • Professional Coaching Team Nikos Travel Teams will be coached by Coaches that have played and/or coached the game at a high level, which we are constantly attracting and hiring.
  • Team Management Our staff will manage the finances, scheduling, and operations of each team, thus freeing parents up to simply be parents and fans and freeing up coaches to simply coach. We will encourage a “team volunteer” from amongst the parents, to coordinate team activities outside of basketball such as travel logistics, snacks, or team social gatherings. We will work as hard as possible to get tournament schedules out to families as soon as they hit the press.
  • Registration and Monthly Dues Your registration dues go toward a set of brand new Game and practice uniforms, and administration fees. Your monthly dues go toward tournaments, academy, gym fees, and coach’s fees. All monthy dues are auto debit and you must cancel if you quit the program.
  • Refund Policy NO REFUNDS NO EXCEPTIONS (you made commitment to your team, your coach and this program. See Injury Page in Welcome Packet)
  • Open Tryouts These will take place at the discretion of Team Nikos coaching staff, and likely a few times per seasonal section (meaning spring, summer, fall, winter).
  • Team Selection and Placement Our goal is to field at least (1) team at each age level (between 8-10 players per team), but if there is high demand, we will field multiple teams, by skill level, at each age level. We will tryout and add, or adjust rosters, as need be, and to serve the interests of providing each student athlete with the best opportunity for development.
  • Roster/Player Movement At the teams discretion, individual players may be moved from one team to another. If, during the course of season, a player’s skills or level of commitment diminish or improve then he may be moved from his current team to another team. These changes in the roster might be necessary to assure the appropriate competitive level for each team and to insure the maximum development benefit to each player.
